17th November 2008
10th Keswick Film Festival
From Monday 24th November passes will be on sale online for the 10th Keswick Film Festival.
This will be back to it's usual time slot next year with 30 films on at the Alhambra and the two screens
at the Theatre by the Lake between Thursday 12th and Sunday 15th February.
As usual it will start with a party for pass holders and invited guests on Thursday at 6.30pm with the Opening Film.
We've been looking back over the last ten years and remembering what a fantastic line-up of directors have come to Keswick over the years
- Jack Cardiff, Nic Roeg, Stephen Friers, Ken Loach, Michael Winner, Andrea Arnold, Karl Francis, Paul Tickell, Raza Baga, Agostino Ferrante, Jeremy Gillet...the list goes on and on.
This year as usual we are waiting for confirmation from a few but already saying they will be here we have Sol Papodopolus and Ray Boulter
, this year talking about the production of Terence Davies acclaimed film Of Time and the City which we will be showing along with some
of his previous films. We have Frank Cottrell Boyce, script-writer of films such as Millions, Hilary and Jackie and many more.
Carl Hunter whose film Grow Your Own sold out in the Studio is coming back and we will be showing it again for those who couldn't get in last year.
And as usual we will be screening the best international films we can find, winners of awards at other festivals and pre-releases.
Those of you who enjoyed the little Festival we had last February at the Alhambra only because of the work going on at the
Theatre enjoyed the films with a theme of music (not musicals!) and we are having a strand of films at the
February event continuing this strand so look out for these, mainly in the Studio.
As plans firm up and films and guests are confirmed keep an eye on the papers and our website www.keswickfilmfestival.org
And if you are a short film maker warch out for how to enter the competition.
